Got Melatonin?

Got Melatonin

The problem with chronic long term use of taking supplements made with synthetic melatonin to get to sleep every night is, dependency. After long term use of taking this man-made synthetic hormone, our body can become dependent and reduce our own production and we may become addicted to the supplement. That could mean we would NEED to take the supplement in order to fall asleep.

We fall asleep by lowering our cortisol and raising our melatonin level. But what raises our melatonin level? It is the signal we get from the pineal gland to release it. To raise the melatonin level is in the cerebrospinal fluid. The cerebrospinal fluid is what stimulates the pineal to release melatonin.

So, how do you get the cerebrospinal fluid up there? It is in how you breathe. When you’re using the pelvic diaphragm, when you deep breath from your abdomen and you’re breathing in, you’re pushing your stomach and your abdomen out. What you are doing is not only lowering your thoracic, you are lowering your pelvic diaphragm as well, which pulls on the second sacral vertebra and the fascia around it and sends the cerebrospinal fluid up to your pineal gland.

When you are ready to retire for the evening, it is a good idea to try to take several deep breaths. In through the nose for 3 seconds pushing your diaphragm down and your stomach out, then exhale through your mouth to the count of 5. Try this several times before bed.

Hope this helps, happy sleeping
